I ride on Arnold often and it's OK as long as you go in the early afternoon (mid-week) and before noon on the weekends. Drivers are generally aware and more than willing to give you the 4' we all desire.

The key thing is there is safety in numbers, as evidence by the recent Gran Fondo. They rode normally congested stretches of Hwy 1 between Jenner and Bodega without incident. As long as riders are courteous (ie: not ridding 4 abreast), the ride and route are publicized in advance, and the route is clearly marked and properly marshaled (especially at major intersections and turns) it should not be a problem.

HI- The only way anyone should ride a bike on Arnold Drive (El Verano and North) is if the road is closed to traffic! Along the edge there are too many pot holes, stones and miscellaneous debris to make it safe. It would be a beautiful ride if proper bike lanes were installed.
